Intel 4040

An enhancement of the Intel 4004, not faster but making the use of the chip easier. The Intel 4040 was released in 1974 and is a 4-bit processor designed to run at 740 kHz. It contains 3000 transistors.

The chips were incorporated in 24-pin DIP packages and manufactured with a 10 ┬Ám process. The packages can be found as white (C4040) and grey (D4040) ceramic versions as well as plastic (P4040) ones.
